A Hillsdale Local School District Income & Property Tax question was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Wayne County, which is in Ohio, where it was defeated.
If approved, this question would have authorized the Hillsdale Local School District to impose income tax of 1.25% for five years in order to provide for current expenses of the District and to levy a property tax of $1,147,925 through an average rate of 7.9 mills ($7.9 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for two years in order to fund necessary requirements of the District.[1]

“ | Shall the Hillsdale Local School District be authorized to do both of the following:
1) Impose an annual income tax of 1.25% on the earned income of individuals residing in the school district, for 5 years, beginning Jan. 1, 2013, for the purpose ofcurrent expenses? 2) Impose a property tax levy outside of the ten-mill limitation for the purpose ofproviding for the necessary requirementsin the sum of $1,147,925 estimated by the county auditor to average 7.9 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.79for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 2 years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013?[1][2] |
