|In 2022, Hollie became active with her local Democratic party & was elected to the Central Committee as the Vice-Chairperson of the Decatur County Democrats. Hollie also helped initiate the first ever “Giving Tuesday”, which entailed presenting checks to several local non-profit organizations for all of the work they do within the community.
Hollie has been employed as a Program Facilitator at Girls Inc of Shelbyville & Shelby County for the past five years. This non-profit organization really speaks to her heart, as their motto is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. She leads an extracurricular program with teen girls called Teen Advocacy- Disability Rights is something that I will fight for. All individuals, regardless of their abilities, should have the right to equality and inclusion in all aspects of life.
- I am passionate about standing up for Women's Rights. This includes being free from domestic violence, having equal pay, and body autonomy. Every human should have the right to their own body and medical decisions.
- I believe that Housing Inequality needs addressed. Indiana’s legislatures should encourage more affordable housing by looking into rent control laws. As of currently, Indiana doesn't have a state-wide rent control law, which is detrimental to low-income households. Without the state-wide rent control law in place, landlords can increase rent by any amount, with the exceptions of retaliation, discrimination, or in the middle of a lease’s term. We need to offer solutions to fix our housing crisis here in Indiana.
