|- Politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene are seeking headlines at the expense of our district. A congresswoman who cares more about her Twitter than her constituents isn't going to deliver results.
- Rural areas like mine have been left behind for far too long. It's time to fight for a bold infrastructure package that revitalizes our rural communities.
- I have personally witnessed as many of our rural hospitals have closed over the last several decades. To receive emergency services, deliver a child, or just have a checkup, folks have to drive to other districts, sometimes we even end up in Chattanooga. And don’t even get me started on trying to find an OBGYN in rural America. We must address the continued decline of rural healthcare in America.

Campaign website
McCormack's campaign website stated the following:

NATIONWIDE BROADBAND THE ISSUE Every single county in GA-14 has a percentage of the population that lacks access to broadband. In our constantly-changing world, reliable access to high-speed internet has become absolutely critical. Whether you’re trying to compete as a small business in an increasingly global marketplace or just trying to log on to do your schoolwork, internet access has become a necessity just to stay afloat. The COVID-19 pandemic has only made this need clearer, and it’s past time to act. THE PLAN Together, we can invest in broadband infrastructure so that 100% of rural communities have access to the internet. Similar to the investments made by the New Deal-era Rural Electrification Act, the American Jobs plan provides for funding to bring high-quality internet access to every resident of Northwest Georgia, and prioritizes working with state and local governments to establish a municipal broadband system and keep internet access affordable for everyday Georgians.
THE ISSUE More than 64,000 residents of GA-14 are veterans, nearly 9% of the total population, yet we only have one VA hospital in district and no veterans’ cemeteries. We owe a debt to those who’ve placed their lives on the line to protect our freedom as Americans, and we have to do better to provide for their care and to honor their sacrifices. THE PLAN As your advocate in our nation’s capitol, I’ll fight for our veterans by working across the aisle with members of both parties to help fund the construction of new VA hospitals in rural communities like GA-14. Additionally, I’ll work to build state, local, and federal support to construct a veterans’ cemetery in our district so that our veterans can rest in a place of honor.
THE ISSUE Northwest Georgia has long been disconnected and isolated from our neighboring communities because of a lack of transit. In particular, access to the economic opportunities in metropolitan areas even as close by as Atlanta can be out of reach for the almost 15% of GA-14 residents who live below the poverty line and may not have access reliable access to long-distance transportation. THE PLAN As your member of Congress, I’ll work to support the American Jobs Plan and create an unprecedented investment in rural transportation infrastructure. In particular, I’ll work to increase funding for Amtrak to enable rural corridor expansions, such as the creation of a new Amtrak route from Atlanta to Nashville with a stop in Dalton, GA that would help connect Northwest Georgia to the rest of our state.
THE ISSUE As a mom and a small business owner, I know how hard it can be to balance raising children and pursuing a career. Nearly three-quarters of GA-14 is considered a childcare desert, where the number of children vastly outnumber the available slots for childcare, or even where no childcare is available at all. Childcare deserts are debilitating to local economies and keep women out of the workforce, as well as deny our children opportunities to get ahead. THE PLAN When I’m in Congress, I’ll be proud to help pass the Childcare Is Infrastructure Act, which will make long-term investments into childcare to help expand access into currently underserved communities. Additionally, I’ll work to establish a national preschool program and support a childcare tax credit for low income families to ensure that no matter your zipcode, GA-14’s children can get off to a great head start.
THE ISSUE It may not be comfortable to admit it, but climate change is real and poses a genuine threat to Northwest Georgia. More intense storms and the natural disasters that come with hold the potential to devastate our communities. Yet we lack storm sirens where they are desperately needed, with only four in our entire district. If we want to be prepared for our changing climate, we need to invest now. THE PLAN We need to invest in 21st-century storm warning systems that will help make sure that we’re ready for floods, tornadoes, and other environmental disasters. Additionally, I’ll support the American Jobs Plan and other legislation that helps us build climate-resilient infrastructure in our district so our communities can withstand more intense storms and floods.[2] |
