Homicide suspect seeks prison change

Stamford, Connecticut: A 22-year-old man from Wilton, accused of murdering his father, has asked for a transfer to a high-security prison for inmates with mental health issues.[1]
Held on a $1 million bond at the Bridgeport Correctional Center, Aaron Ramsey is being held on the charges of beating, stabbing, and murdering his 73-year-old father Edward Ramsey on May 3, 2012. After his arrest, Ramsey allegedy confessed to police, saying aliens, magic powers, and inner voices were commanding him during the murder.[2]
Ramsey's public defender, Howard Ehring, is asking for a mental competency exam to determine if Ramsey is able to stand trial at the state Superior Court in Stamford, as well as the prison change request.[1]
Judge Richard Comerford has asked that Ramsey be placed on suicide watch, as well as for the Department of Corrections to give Ramsey psychiatric and medical attention. Judge Comerford has also requested the Department of Corrections to possibly consider the recommendation for a transfer to the Garner Correctional Institute in Newtown.[2]
The next court appearance will be June 8, 2012.[2]
