I am a Social Worker who holds myself accountable to the six Core Values on which the Social Work Code of Ethics is based. Those values include Service, Social Justice, Dignity and Worth of the Person, Importance of Human Relationships, Integrity, and Competence. The Social Worker Ethical Principles are to serve those in need and address social problems, challenge social injustices, be respectful and mindful of cultural and ethnic differences, recognize the value of and strength in human relationships, be trustworthy, and continually develop professional knowledge to practice in a competent manner.

I am a Social Worker 24/7/365. I promise to be accountable to the people of my community as well as to the Pennsylvania legislature as a whole. There is an overall air of anger and unwillingness between the parties to work together and YOU, THE PEOPLE, are the ones who are paying the price; both figuratively and literally. It is time for that to stop and I have the skills and training to open that dialogue.

It’s time for CHANGE. It’s time for NEW IDEAS. It’s time for HOPE.
  • For decades we’ve been promised property tax relief with no success. I will follow through on this promise with sensible property tax reform.
  • All students in Pennsylvania should have equal rights to a quality education. I will ensure that schools are properly funded and that all individuals have access to affordable post-secondary education and job training.
  • As a social worker, I know all too well that mental health issues are prevalent in our society and they must be addressed. We need quality mental health services that are accessible and affordable for all.
As a social worker, I see the unmet mental health needs of our communities every day. I worked to assist an individual in seeing a psychiatrist for an immediate need that couldn’t be seen for three months. It was suggested that we call the crisis hotline. The hotline worker suggested that the individual “sign themselves in” for inpatient psychiatric services. First, this should not be how psychiatric needs are met as it puts a burden on that system. Second, there are clearly not enough mental health practitioners to help meet the needs of our population.

Whether it is an after-effect of a changed life through COVID, the opioid crisis, chemical imbalances, secondary (or vicarious) trauma through watching violence toward others on television/news, PTSD, or any of the many other causes for mental health concerns, these needs are not being met.

The social work movement advocates for social workers to be “at the table” when discussing systemic change as it relates to mental health needs. I will be a strong voice for mental health needs and I will work tirelessly to bring funding back to the district to help meet those needs.

We need quality mental health services that are accessible and affordable to all.
Yes. There is an overall air of anger and unwillingness between the parties to work together and YOU, THE PEOPLE, are the ones who are paying the price; both figuratively and literally. It is time for that to stop and I have the skills and training to open that dialogue.
