Howard Chris Ryan, Jr. is a judge of the Thirteenth Circuit of Illinois. He was named chief judge of the court after the retirement of James A. Lanuti on December 6, 2010.[1][2] Ryan was retained in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Education

Ryan earned a B.S. from Illinois State University, going on to receive his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1984.[3]

Judges of the Illinois Circuit Court stand for retention after their first full term. To be retained, a judge must receive at least 60 percent of the vote.[4][5] Howard C. Ryan, Jr. was retained in the Illinois Thirteenth Circuit Court, Howard Ryan Retention Election with 81.76 percent of the vote.
