Hugh Carithers
Hugh Carithers was a judge on the Fourth Circuit Court in Florida. He served in this position from January 1993 to January 2019.[1][2]
Education
Carithers received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University in 1969 and his law degree from the University of Florida in 1976. Prior to attending law school, he served in the U.S. Navy, where his service included a nine-month tour in Vietnam.[1][3]
Career
Carithers worked for 18 1/2 years as a lawyer in Jacksonville, FL before joining the circuit court in 1993. He primarily practiced family law. He began his career at the firm of Shepherd, Fletcher, Hand and Adams. He then moved to Hand, Drew, Carithers, Showalter and Mercier in 1982. He has also taught at the College of Advanced Judicial Studies.[1]
Elections
2012
Carithers was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[4][5]
