Hugo Chaviano
Hugo Chaviano is a former Illinois Director of Labor. He was named to the statewide position by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner (R) in January 2015.[1] On March 19, 2015, the Illinois Senate confirmed Chaviano's appointment.[2] He succeeded Joseph Costigan in the office.
Biography
Chaviano is a Cuban immigrant and Chicago-based attorney. Some highlights of Chaviano's legal career include previously managing his own firm and contributing to a wide variety of litigation cases during his tenure as senior partner for Sanchez Daniels & Hoffman, LLP.[2]
Chaviano came to the United States at 13 years old and can speak both Spanish and English. His office biography cites the Hispanic lawyer's reputation across the United States and Latin America as an advocate for diversity.[1]
