Huma Malik was a candidate for at-large member on the Oshkosh Board of Education in Wisconsin. She filed to run in the general election on April 7, 2015. In March 2015, however, Malik announced she would be ending her campaign for the board. After becoming a full-time college student, she stated she "would not be able to devote my full attention as it is needed and as I wanted." The announcement was too late to remove her name from the ballot. While votes were still cast for her, Malik was defeated.[1]
