Alabama: Claude E. Hundley was sworn in to the Madison County District Court last Thursday. He was appointed on October 5 by Governor Robert Bentley.[1] With the appointment, Hundley becomes the first African American man to serve on a court in Northern Alabama.[2]

Hundley's legal career has been a mixture of public service and the private practice of law. Notably, he served from 1991 to 2011 with the law firm Lanier Ford. He has also served as a substitute municipal judge and special circuit judge for Madison County's courts.[1]

After taking the oath of office, Hundley said, "I will lead by my habit of doing right for everybody, and everybody getting getting a level playing field."[2]
