I. A. Smoak, III
I. A. Smoak, III (b. September 27, 1948) was a Probate Judge for Colleton County, South Carolina.[1] Smoak was first elected to this position in 1998.[2] His term expired in 2010.
2010 election
Smoak was defeated in the Democratic primary by Ashley H. Amundson. He won only 44.15 percent of the vote.[3]
Education
Smoak earned his B.A. from Furman University in 1970. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973. He is now married to Dorothy King Prentiss, and they have two children.[2]
Career
Smoak served as the Walterboro Municipal Judge from 1979 to 1982 and from 1986 to 2000. He also served as Master of Colleton County from 1982 to 1990. He was appointed to the position of Colleton County Probate Judge in 1998. He has served in that position since.[2]
