I am a husband, father, veteran, and current ER nurse. I graduated from Eden Prairie High School in 2012. I attended college at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where I began coursework in Law Enforcement and Political Science. While in college, I enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Military Policeman. I served on a mobilization to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which caused me to step away from college for a year. After returning from deployment, I continued my education and graduated in 2017 with a double-major in Law Enforcement and Political Science. After graduation from college, I spent several years working in hospital security and public safety. I was honorably discharged from the Army in 2021. Working in the hospital setting for several years helped me realize my passion for healthcare, and I returned to school again in order to become a Registered Nurse. I have worked as an ER nurse now for over two years, and I love the work that I do. I have been privileged to serve many of the members of this community while working in a rural hospital. I also met my incredible wife, Brittny, while working at the hospital. We have a beautiful 1-year old girl, Isla, who we are excited to raise in this amazing community. Living and working here has been such a rewarding experience for me and my family.
  • I have spent my career serving our country and our community, and I know what it means to serve and protect our community and its residents. My priority is to make sure we are supporting the institutions that keep our community safe and healthy: supporting our Police, Firefighters, EMS, and our local healthcare infrastructure.
  • I am a moderate, and I will work with folks from all backgrounds to find solutions to our common problems. I will not be a rubber stamp for one side or the other in the Legislature. I have spent my career working with people from all backgrounds, and I know from my service in the military and in healthcare that it doesn't matter what your background, race, ethnicity, culture, or politics are. We all work together to accomplish the mission and help keep each other safe.
  • As a community and a state, we need to work together with each other again. Our politics has devolved into an angry, vengeful, greivance campaign against the "others" that we may disagree with. Both sides of the aisle are guilty of this. We can and must be able to work across the aisle with our neighbors to find reasonable solutions to common problems. Our fellow Minnesotans are not our enemies, they are our coworkers and neighbors. People we trust every day to watch our children, prepare our food, and provide our healthcare. Let's get back to working together.
My top priorities:

1. Ensuring robust support for our public safety services and first responders (police, fire, and EMS).
2. Ensuring that our rural healthcare clinics and hospitals continue to operate and stay open, so patients can actually get care in their own communities.

3. Getting the Legislature focused on bread and butter issues again that actually affect quality of life in our communities. Working to pass needed infrastructure and bonding projects to maintain our roads and bridges, and or water and sewer systems in our rural communities.
I have great respect for many of our non-partisan military leaders that I had the honor to serve under in some capacity: leaders like Jim Mattis and John Kelly. A political leader that I look up to is Dwight Eisenhower, who I believe was one of the best presidents in recent memory.
Honesty, integrity, willingness to learn, and the ability to form partnerships with others. Politics has too often become about doing favors and maintaining power for the sake of power. This is anathema to the intent of our Founders in establishing our representative government. We need more leaders of principle, who will be open and honest about where they stand, and how they make their policy decisions. I believe the most effective way to legislate is to be open, transparent, and accessible. Legislators are not experts in many areas of policy, and need to be willing to hear from stakeholders, gather data and information, and make the best decision after learning about the issue and its impacts on the community.
I am honest and transparent, and I am a problem-solver. I don't just criticize when something is wrong, I find a solution to the problem. I am also a listener and a learner: I am willing to hear input from others and adjust my perspective based on new information.
The core responsibilities of Legislators are to represent the interests of their community and be responsive to the voices and needs of voters. Legislators need to be willing to listen to voters, stakeholders, and experts to learn and make the best possible decision for the community they represent. This means being accessible and responsive, Legislators must be willing to regularly get out in their community, speak with voters, and answer questions.
My goal is to serve the community, and to leave our community safer and healthier.
Sales Associate at Michael's craft store. I started in high school making $8.50/hr and worked there through some of college, for about 5 years total. People often ask me if I have some fantastic artistic skill from working there for so long. I don't. But I could definitely tell you where to find every item in that store!
Definitely Luke Skywalker, I grew up with the original (and best) Star Wars trilogy.
Maintaining a quality infrastructure for our public safety and healthcare services, especially in rural Minnesota.
Yes and no. It is helpful to understand how the processes work and knowing how to pass legislation. On the other hand, it is important to bring new perspectives and new ideas in to the Legislature. It often seems as if those in power have gotten complacent and just seek to remain in power. When the status quo is not productive, things need to be shaken up.
Absolutely. Partnering with others is what legislating is about. You have to be able to work collaboratively to get a variety of input and perspectives before making decisions that will affect the state and our communities. Good ideas are not monopolized by one person or party.
The most compelling and frustrating stories I have heard are from residents who are good-intentioned folks trying to do the right thing or make a positive difference in the community, and they are prevented from doing so by red tape from barriers in local or state governments. We need to take a hard look at how the laws and regulations we pass actually affect our citizens in day to day life.
The Legislature should maintain the ability to grant emergency powers during true emergencies like natural disasters, violent civil unrest, and other high-risk events. The Legislature should maintain the ability to rescind this authority as well once the situation has resolved or no longer qualifies as an emergency.
A bill that would increase funding for training, recruitment, and new equipment for our Police, Firefighters, and EMS workers.

Public Safety, Healthcare, and Veteran's Issues are my primary areas of expertise and interest. I would also be interested in Education.
I am in favor of absolute transparency in government spending and accountability for this spending. The budget and existing programs should be regularly audited to reduce wasteful spending and save taxpayer money.
