Ian Prior is a former communications director for American Crossroads, a Super PAC that, according to its website, opposes what it calls "big government and reckless spending."[1] American Crossroads is affiliated with Crossroads GPS, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, and the Crossroads Generation Super PAC. Prior joined American Crossroads in May 2015.[2] Before American Crossroads, he was northeast regional press secretary, and later national press secretary, for the National Republican Congressional Committee. As of March 20 2017, he was deputy director of public affairs for the United States Department of Justice.[3]

Career

From 2002 to 2003, Prior was a law clerk for Frank Williams, former chief justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.[4] From 2001 to 2004, he was a litigation associate with Boston, Mass., firm Edwards Angell Palmer Dodge LLP. From 2006 to 2007, he was a litigation associate with Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels LLP in Boston. From 2007 to 2011, he served as assistant corporation counsel for the City of Boston law department. From 2009 to 2011, Prior was an adjunct professor at the New England School of Law. From September 2011 to April 2012, he was an attorney with Providence, R.I.-based firm Chisholm Chisholm and Kilpatrick.[5]

In April 2012, Prior was named campaign manager for Republican Brendan Doherty's campaign for Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District.[6][7] In January 2013, he was hired by the National Republican Congressional Committee as northeast regional press secretary.[5] After the 2014 midterm elections, Prior was named national press secretary.[8]
