Ian Weeks grew up in the Temecula Valley, and now lives in Hemet with his wife of 11 years, and two young sons. Ian is, first and foremost, a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ. He is a graduate of the University of Redlands School of Business, and professionally, a Certified Financial Planner. Ian has practiced financial planning for the last 16 years. He also serves as one of the worship leaders at his local church. He is an avid outdoorsman, and spends his free time with his family boating, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding.
I’m passionate about doing what’s right, and bringing integrity and independence to Sacramento. I’m a strong advocate for keeping our communities safe, supporting law enforcement, fighting for cost of living improvements for every day citizens, and returning more power to the people when it comes to their children’s educations and their personal freedoms.
Jesus Christ, my mom and dad, and Ronald Reagan. Jesus is the ultimate example of bold, selfless, humble leadership. My mom, and men like my dad and Ronald Reagan exemplify/exemplified how to lead in that manner as human beings.
The Bible. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It is God’s instruction manual for life, and the source of wisdom. My entire philosophy on life is based on it.
Wisdom and Integrity. An elected official needs to, first, have the wisdom to discern what is right, and second, do what is right, no matter the cost.
Integrity, wisdom, empathy, kindness, interpersonal communication, intelligence, pragmatism, and articulation.
To keep their promises. We should run, for office honestly articulating our intentions. If we’re blessed enough to be elected on that basis, we need to do what we said we would do.
One of integrity. I’d like people to remember me as a man who knew what was right, communicated that effectively, and then did it, true to his word.
Probably the most significant historical event that happened in my lifetime was the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. I was 16 at the time.
I worked as a bus-boy at Pat and Oscar’s in Temecula for two years, from age 16-18.
The Bible. It’s one of our best resources to begin to know our Creator. I’m also a fan of Louis L’Amour books, although I mainly read those in my younger years. Great westerns :)
My career, raising children, my marriage, entering into ministry. This political campaign. Faithfully doing what God has called me to do. I’ve faced significant struggles throughout my life in all of these areas. But it’s working through those struggles, in my case, with God’s help, that refines us into who we are.
Managing the increase in crime/homelessness/drug addiction, bringing down the cost of living, resource management (especially water), and returning power and greater freedom back to the people of California.
I don’t think it hurts, but when politics is a career, rather than a calling, that can be problematic. I think it’s important to prove that one can be successful in other professional endeavors prior to seeking office.
Of course. There are 120 legislative positions in the state of California, all of whom have been elected by fellow Californians. While we fight to represent the constituents in our home districts, we make law that impacts all Californians. Therefore, we should be communicating and working with other members of the legislature.
A bipartisan, honest drawing of the maps.
I would be happy and willing to serve on any committee. My professional background is in finance/business/economics, so those areas might be a good fit.
I’ve been speaking with a lot of business owners/farmers, law enforcement professionals, and a lot of parents of school age children. The stories are very similar. They all feel like they’re being dictated to, rather than listened to. Folks are feeling crushed by onerous rules and regulations. I believe farmers know best about what they need to be successful. I believe parents know best what their children need. I believe law enforcement professionals know best how to keep us safe, and business owners know best what they need to be successful. The consistent stories I’m hearing from these communities are equally touching, memorable, and impactful.
Yes. Our founders gave us a separation of powers for a reason. We have seen, increasingly in recent years, a significant overreach in the executive branch, and it needs to be challenged, by both the legislature and the judiciary.
Yes, but within reason. It’s critical to be able to work together with folks with whom we have disagreements, but it’s important to know when to stand for your core convictions. Some issues, like unwavering commitment to integrity and the constitution are non-negotiable.
