The Idaho Director of Agriculture is a state executive position in the Idaho state government. The director heads the Idaho Department of Agriculture, which regulates and promotes the state's agriculture industry. The governor appoints the director, who is subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the Idaho Senate. Duties

State law tasks the director is designating and hiring employees, acquiring and disseminating information regarding "agricultural pursuits," and encouraging and promoting "in every practical manner the interests of agriculture, horticulture ... the livestock industries," etc.[3]
