March 12, 2012

Boise, Idaho: Noon on Friday, March 9th marked the end of the filing deadline for the May 15 primary election in the Gem State. Though the state has three appellate court races on the ballot in 2012, do not expect it to be a raucous election year: all three incumbent judges are running unopposed for re-election. These are the only judicial races in Idaho in 2012.[1]

Supreme Court

On the Idaho Supreme Court, Justice Daniel Eismann is preparing for a third full term. He was elected in 2000 and served as Chief Justice from 2007 to 2011.

Court of Appeals

Both David Gratton and John Michael Melanson were appointed to the court by Governor Butch Otter in 2009. The 2012 election will be their first to the Idaho Court of Appeals.
