An Illini West High School District Bond Issue proposition was defeated on the April 9, 2013 election ballot in Hancock, Henderson and McDonough Counties, which are in Illinois.

If approved, this measure would have authorized the Illini West School District to increase its debt by $8 million through issuing general obligation bonds in that amount in order to fund the acquisition and improvements of a building site and the construction and equipping of a new school building on the site. A similar measure was defeated in November of last year. This measure would result in an increase in the property tax levy rate for the district residents. The district would use this $8 million as matching funds to try to gain a $26 million state grant. If the grant is not received the district will not issue the bonds and the taxpayers will see no increase in they school property tax rate.[1][2]
