Illinois Gateway Amendment (1950)

The Illinois Gateway Amendment was on the ballot in Illinois on November 7, 1950, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. It proposed that the legislature should be able to propose modifications to up to three articles of the constitution per session. It also proposed that the adoption of an amendment would require a vote of either two-thirds of the voters voting on the question or a majority of voters voting in the election.[1]
