The Illinois Revenue Amendment was on the ballot in Illinois on November 6, 1956, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. This measure proposed to give more leeway to the legislature in creating tax policy. However, it specifically forbid the authorization of a graduated income tax.[1]
