Illinois State Bar Association gives thumbs up to cameras in court

As courts around the country weigh the benefits and issues of allowing video cameras in courtrooms, Illinois is certainly not behind the trend. Now, Illinois State Bar Association is throwing his support behind the concept.
Eleven Illinois counties currently allow video cameras into their courtrooms. The number of cameras is limited to two, and the presiding judge gets the final say in whether or not to allow any cameras. John Locallo, President of the State Bar Association, stated, "Who better than the judge who's in control of the courtroom to be the person who's in control of the media as well as the lawyers."[1] The new law will allow reporters to broadcast the legal proceedings on television for interested citizens to watch.[1]
