March 14, 2012

Calhoun County, Alabama: Incumbent Judge Mannon Bankson was defeated by Jacksonville attorney Chris McIntyre in the 2012 Republican Primary.[1] The two candidates battled for a seat on the Calhoun County District Court with Bankson receiving 44.64 percent of the vote and McIntyre winning 55.36 percent of the vote.[2]

One problem with the current court that McIntyre plans to solve is the overcrowding of prisons.[1]

“The answer is not to lock them up and throw away the key. Our job is to help them and get them to be productive members of the community.” and “We want to get these people into rehab instead of filling up county jails. There, they aren’t doing any good except eating meals on taxpayers’ money.”[1][3] -Chris McIntyre

McIntyre will run unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.
