Incumbent Nevada Supreme Court judges face no opposition in coming election
January 31, 2012
Nevada: The three incumbent justices up for election on Nevada's Supreme Court will run unopposed in 2012 - keeping their seats without an electoral race. Chief Justice Nancy Saitta, Michael Cherry, and Michael Douglas will be re-elected by Nevada voters on November 6, 2012. Chief Justice Saitta issued a statement on the situation, noting: “With none of us having challengers, we can spend our time fulfilling our obligations to the people of the State of Nevada. The Nevada Supreme Court has become one of the busiest appellate courts in the nation. Contested judicial elections are an integral part of Nevada’s judicial system, but they do require considerable effort and time away from the courthouse.”[1]
