A primary election is an election in which registered voters select a candidate that they believe should be a political party's candidate for elected office to run in the general election. They are also used to choose convention delegates and party leaders. Primaries are state-level and local-level elections that take place prior to a general election. Indiana law requires a closed primary, where a voter must be affiliated with a party to vote in that party's primary. This includes if they voted for a majority of that party’s candidates in the last general election or plan to in the upcoming election. However, it is possible for any voter to vote in any party's primary so long as they meet this criteria.[1]

Submitted Biography: "Born and raised in Indiana, Drew is the son of a dedicated elementary school teacher with 35 years of service and a fourth-generation farmer. In 2012 he was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. After completing his military service, he used the GI Bill to pursue higher education at Indiana University and went on to earn a doctorate in music from the University of Illinois. Drew currently serves as a Visiting Instructor at Purdue University and remains actively involved in his community. He is a proud member of the local Marine Corps League and American Legion Post 11. Drew also performs as a percussionist with both the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and the Lafayette Citizens Band. In his spare time, Drew recently completed an Associate's of Applied Science in Energy Technology from Ivy Tech Community College. This program deepened his understanding of energy consumption, production, and cost—knowledge he values as incredibly valuable for everyday Hoosiers."

Incumbent: No
Submitted Biography: "I am a native of Lafayette, Indiana, a husband and a father. As a retired machinist I have lived the issues I am running on. I ran in 2018 and 2020, and I am running again because I believe that public service begins with respect for people, honesty in decision-making, and the determination to keep showing up for the community. I was deeply troubled seeing children and seniors struggle to get enough to eat during the 2025 government shutdown. I'm also concerned about Hoosiers who could lose access to affordable healthcare if ACA tax breaks are eliminated Because my wife and I lost two children to cancer within 30 months, healthcare is a particularly compelling concern for me. We took that grief and turned it into purpose by creating a nonprofit to support families whose children are fighting cancer. I am told I am a man of integrity, compassion and resilience. My life experiences have shaped those attributes, as well as my commitment to being a strong voice for Hoosiers in Washington. I believe Congress has a responsibility to serve the people and provide real oversight and balance in government. I'm committed to working with anyone — from either party — to make sure Americans get the support and stability they deserve."
