Industry, Business and Labor Committee, North Dakota House of Representatives
The Industry, Business and Labor Committee is a standing committee of the North Dakota House of Representatives.[1]
Per Section 501 of the House Rules, committees of the North Dakota House of Representatives are assigned by the Committee on Committees. Committees are assigned at the start of an organizational session after every election. The majority leader shall serve as the chair of the Committee on Committees and the speaker of the house shall serve as the vice chairman of the committee. In addition, the majority leader shall appoint five members from the majority party and four members from the minority party to make up the Committee on Committees.[2] The House has one five-day standing committee, the Appropriations Committee, five three-day standing committees and five two-day standing committees. Members can only serve on two standing committees; no more than one three-day and one two-day standing committee. Members of the Appropriations Committee may not serve on any other standing committee. The speaker and the majority and minority leaders can participate in all standing committees but may not vote in the committees, except for the minority leader and the committees to which they were appointed.[3] The majority leader shall appoint the chair and vice-chair of each standing committee.[4]
