Felony weapon charge, dismissal (2023)
On October 13, 2023, Vernikov was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon after she allegedly brought a handgun to a student demonstration following the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas. [1]
On November 17, 2023, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office dismissed the charge against Vernikov, indicating that the handgun she was carrying on October 13, 2023, at the student demonstration was unloaded and missing a piece, making it unusable. [2]
