Background
The Iowa Grassroots Coalition (IAGRC) is a nonpartisan coalition with no formal leadership. It was co-founded by Gregg Cummings and Tammy Kobza in 2012.[4][5] According to their website, the IAGRC is meant to be a resource for local grassroots organizations and also a place for "communication, commitment, and collaborations between and among as many Iowa Grassroots groups as want to be a part of the coalition."[1]
In October 2015, the IAGRC hosted the Iowa Grassroots Coalition's Candidate Honest Assessment Summit in Waterloo, Iowa. The summit included three Republican presidential candidates, former candidate Bobby Jindal, Sen. Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee. According to The Des Moines Register, the three men focused on three primary issues, which were "standing up for religious freedoms, removing the federal government from the daily lives of Americans and simplifying the tax code."[6]
