Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Iowa needs workers. Quality schools, affordable colleges, will attract working families to our state.

Quality of life initiatives such as quality and affordable healthcare and childcare will attract working families to our state.

I fully support women's reproductive rights. Government needs to keep out of a woman's private medical decisions.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Terry McGovern (D)

I am motivated to help working families prosper because when they are doing well, the state of Iowa does well. So I am passionate about policies that support working families with better pay, more affordable services such as childcare, healthcare, and education. I am focused on bringing Iowa's K-12 education system to being the nation's premier public education system as it was many years ago. The best investment we can make in our state is in our children--they are the future. While I understand the costs need to be managed, we also need to consider the costs of NOT having a well educated citizenry and the penalties that come with that, to include less business investment in our communities. As a veteran, I am also concerned about critical infrastructure security such as our energy and agriculture. Talks of rolling blackouts last summer concerned me greatly, Iowa cannot have an energy system that could potentially fail during winter months with extreme weather such as polar vortexes. I support nuclear energy as a carbon-free, reliable, source with a small footprint. I know atomic energy has high up-front costs, but these pale compared to the massive costs we face with blackouts during extreme cold events. In terms of ag, too much ag land is being purchased by outside parties, putting our food production at risk. This combined with more corporate farming, we are creating an unsustainable farming culture. America needs farmers, farmers need support to thrive.
