The Iowa Legislator Qualifications Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the 1880 ballot in Iowa as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure removed the words "free white" from Section 4 of Article III of the Iowa Constitution, relating to qualifications for legislators.[1][2]
