The Iowa Liquor Prohibition Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Iowa on June 27, 1882 as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure prohibited the sale, manufacture and consumption of alcohol.[1]

Aftermath

On April 21, 1883, the Iowa Supreme Court held that because of irregularities, the amendment was not legally submitted to the electors and therefore could not be considered part of the constitution.[2]
