The Iowa Marriage Amendment did not appear on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the state of Iowa as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The measure, if enacted would have defined marriage as only between a man and a woman in the state. Representative Kraig Paulsen introduced the proposed constitutional amendment, but the measure failed in a House vote by a count of 45-54 during the week of February 9, 2010.[1]
Constitutional changes
The measure would have amended Article 1 of the Iowa Constitution by adding a new section pertaining to marriage.[2]
