Iowa Replacement of Governor-Elect, Amendment 1 (1952)

The Iowa Replacement of Governor-Elect Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Iowa on November 4, 1952, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure provided that if the person who received the most votes for the office of the governor has died, resigned or is otherwise unable to assume the duties of the office, the person who received the most votes for the office of lieutenant governor would assume the powers and duties of governor.[1][2]
