The Iowa Supermajority to Raise Taxes Amendment, also known as Amendment 2, was on the ballot in Iowa on June 29, 1999, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. The measure would have required a three-fifths vote of all members of the legislature to increase income or sales taxes or to establish a new state tax.[1][2][3]
