Des Moines, Iowa: The Iowa Supreme Court has appointed judge Kellyann M. Lekar to succeed Thomas N. Bower as the Chief Judge of the First Judicial District; Bower was recently appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals by Governor Terry Branstad.[1] Though Lekar will fill the previously vacant Chief Judge position, there is still a vacancy on the court due to Bower's exit.
