Ira Lloyd Letts (1889-1947) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. He joined the court in 1928 after an appointment from Calvin Coolidge. At the time of his appointment he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney General. He resigned on June 24, 1935 to return to private practice.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

District of Rhode Island

Letts received a recess appointment from President Calvin Coolidge on June 9, 1927 to replace Arthur Lewis Brown. On December 6, 1927, he was nominated. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 4, 1928, and received commission that same day. He resigned on June 24, 1935. Letts was succeeded in this position by John Christopher Mahoney.[1]
