Iroquois County School Sales Tax (November 2010)
An Iroquois County School Sales Tax measure was on the November 2, 2010 ballot in Iroquois County.

- YES 4,372 (41.65%)
- NO 6,125 (58.35%)

This measure asked for a three-quarters of a cent sale tax increase to help balance school budget and meet educational funding needs. Although the schools were aware that the county may too ask for a sales tax increase, they were hoping residents understand they are two separate referendums and feel that coordination between the two would help to get both measures passed.[2] The school board unanimously approved placing this measure on the November ballot during their June 21 meeting. An approximate amount of $319,772 was expected to be generated by this tax since if it had been approved by voters.[3] If it had been approved the money was going to be used to lessen the bond debt of the school and would have also decreased the local property taxes as well. The money would have also been used for school facility projects.[4]
