Martinez ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 26. Martinez was defeated by incumbent Miriam Paris and David E. Lucas, Sr. in the Democratic primary on July 31, 2012. The two will face off in the August runoff. Bobby Gale is running unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
