Is Facebook "like" free speech?

NORFOLK, Virginia: Six former sheriff's deputies in Virginia are appealing a district court ruling that said "liking" something on Facebook is not constitutionally-protected free speech.[1] The six former employees were fired after they supported their boss's political opponent. One of the former deputies had "liked" the opponent's Facebook page. The deputies sued for wrongful termination, but in April 2012, U.S. District Judge Raymond Jackson said that "liking" a Facebook page was insufficient speech to merit legal protection. Facebook and the American Civil Liberties Union are appealing that decision in the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals[2]
