Ivan grew up in Lincoln Nebraska. He earned an associates degree at New Mexico Military Institute, a Bachelor's degree at Sam Houston State in Huntsville Texas, working in the Texas corrections department and the Texas National Guard to pay for school. Ivan was commissioned in the United States Army holding several leadership positions, attending national and international training and as well as completing a graduate degree in Homeland Security. He deployed several times to Iraq and Afghanistan retiring after 20 years. His wife Anita is from Norway and an attorney working in Boise. They have been married for 20 years with two boys. Their oldest son is an ameteur skateboarder and travels the country competing with dreams to go pro and make the 2028 olympic team.. Their youngest son is an accomplished pianist and gives monthly concerts at various venues. Their boys attend our local public schools and both boys are very much teenagers. Ivan is a small business owner in Boise and very involved with several nonprofits and chambers of commerce. He was recently the vice president of the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals. Ivan is an avid runner, a member of the Boise Area Running Club, has run 32 marathons and currently training for Boston. In his spare time he enjoys doing restoration work, primarily making old rusty objects new and usable again.
I look up to my father. He was a success in business and life. Loved and liked by all.
The ability to listen. The ability to recognized talent around me and create a team.
I would like the next generation to have it better than we did.
The challenger explosion. It seemed impossible it happened. It seemed beyond reason a teacher died in the accident.
Worked as a volunteer at the local zoo for a summer. Although not paid it felt very adult to me and the work to care for the animals was a life and death responsibility that felt immense at important for me. It was a character building opportunity. It was a program I want to encourage our zoo to adopt.
The memories of US Grant. This book to me is the best of the American triumph. The best of what America is and strives to be.
The Ink spots, I don't want to set the world on fire
I spoke with a grandmother who took in her Grandchildren because their father died, and the mother was in Rehab. She had the option to turn the children over to the state and into the foster system. Instead, despite having no income, she did what many of us would consider the right thing and took in those kids. She has no income, and the parents obviously can't help either. She was simply asking for some of the benefits the kids in the foster system get. Not money. Not a handout. Simply assistance in state funded programs for summer camps, lunch assistance vouchers etc. This made perfect sense to me. I want to take a hard look at assisting those extended family members who decide to do the harder right and keep those children in a family and out of our broken foster system.
Did you hear about the man who fell down the well? Apparently he didn't see well.
Elevation of the Solicitation and sale of Vap to minors Act. A bill to prohibit the sale of Vap products that are targeting children by the utilizing candy flavors and cartoon depictions on their products.
Education, Infastructure, military/VA affairs
These are key to earn the trust of those who elected you
