Ivan Mossop Jr.
Ivan Mossop Jr. (Republican Party) ran for election to the New York City Council to represent District 28. He lost in the general election on November 2, 2021.
Mossop was a Republican candidate for District 28 representative on the New York City Council in New York. He was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Biography
Mossop earned a B.B.A., cum laude, in accounting from Howard University and an M.B.A. in taxation from CUNY-Baruch College.[1]
At the time of his 2017 campaign for city council, Mossop was an income tax preparer/U.S. Treasury licensed enrolled agent for IDM Tax Services and Consulting. His experience also includes work as an enrolled agent and tax consultant for New Vision Tax Services and a tax department enrolled agent for Israeloff, Trattner & Co. and service as a Republican district leader for the 32nd Assembly District. Mossop is a former auxiliary police officer for the New York Police Department. He also served as the recording secretary for the Rochdale Village House Congress. In October 2019, Mossop founded the Action Civic Association of Greater Jamaica.[1][2]

New York City held elections for mayor, public advocate, comptroller, and all 51 seats on the city council in 2017. New Yorkers also voted for offices in their boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.
Primary elections were scheduled for September 12, 2017, and the general election was on November 7, 2017. Under New York law, candidates who run unopposed in a primary or general election win the nomination or election automatically, and their names do not appear on the ballot.[3] Adrienne Adams (D) defeated Hettie Powell (Working Families) and Ivan Mossop Jr. (R) in the general election for the District 28 seat on the New York City Council.
