J. Edward Prochaska was a judge of the Seventeenth Circuit of Illinois.[1][2] He was appointed to this position in 1996 and retained in 2006 and 2012. He retired at the end of his term in December 2018.[3]

Education

Prochaska earned a B.A. in history and political science from Augustana College in 1975. He attended Roosevelt University's four-month paralegal studies program in 1982 and earned his J.D. from the University of Houston.[4] He was admitted to the bar in 1987.[5]

Career

After attending Roosevelt, Prochaska worked as a paralegal for Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas while earning his law degree. He later returned to Rockford, Illinois to join a law firm until his judicial appointment in 1996.[4]

2012 election

Prochaska was retained on Nov. 6, 2012 with 82.3% of the vote.[6][2]
