J. Emmett Murphy is a justice for the Westchester County Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District of New York. Following election, he took office on this court in 1997. He was re-elected in 2010.[1][2]

Education

Murphy received his B.A. degree from Manhattan College in 1963 and his J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1966.[1]

Career

Prior to his judicial career, Murphy worked as First Deputy Corporation Counsel for the Yonkers Law Department. In 1980, he joined the Yonkers City Court. He served on this court through 1991 and served as the Supervising Judge from 1987 to 1991. He joined the Westchester County Court in 1992 and then took office as a Supreme Court Justice in 1997.[1]

2010 election

In an eight-way race, Murphy was one of the four judges elected.[3]
