J. Michael Hunter
J. Michael Hunter was a judge of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to this position by former Governor Lawton Chiles on February 4, 1998 and was officially sworn in on March 12, 1998. He retired at the end of his last term on January 7, 2013.[1][2][3][4]
Education
He received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida in 1975. He followed it with a master's degree from Rollins College in 1980. He then received his J.D. degree from Northern Kentucky University's Chase College of Law in 1986.[5][6]
Career
Hunter began his career in 1987 as an assistant state attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit. The following year, he left that position to become a private practice lawyer. Specializing in insurance defense law, he worked in that capacity until 1994, when he was elected to the Polk County Court. He then joined the circuit court in 1998.[5][6]
