Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Judge Rex Marvel is a District Court Judge working in Family and Domestic Courts in Mecklenburg County. Judge Marvel was appointed to the bench by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper after being nominated by the Mecklenburg County lawyers. Prior to the appointment Judge Marvel worked as an Assistant Public Defender and an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing.

With addition to these roles Judge Marvel sit on the Board of Directors of the Mecklenburg County Bar and the Center for Children not-for-profit. Judge Marvel is heavily involved in the community as a volunteer at area homeless shelters and regularly volunteering with youth.

Judge Rex Marvel is a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist; a distinction held by only a handful of attorneys in Mecklenburg County.

Judge Marvel strives to improve equal access to justice and works to make sure courts do a better job working for children and families.

My first job was washing dishes for a small restaurant in High School.
