2016

Chandler's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

I am seeking the honor of representing District 32, which is comprised of citizens of Luna, Grant and Hidalgo counties. I feel our counties, as well as much of southern New Mexico, need strong representation to reverse the years of overlook and neglect from Santa Fe. I want to see Deming, Columbus, Lordsburg, Animas and Rodeo be on the lists we are proud to be first on.

Unfortunately, our economic position continues to decline which puts more and more pressure on our Municipal, County and School leaders to do more with less. This no win situation causes our leadership to further cut needed services or pass on more taxes to an area which is already one of the poorest in the nation.

I feel with the right leadership, our counties have what it takes to prosper. The citizens of District 32 are capable, hard working and caring of others. Our location via the border, Interstate and railroad make us the gateway for trade in and out of the USA as well as east and west corridors of our country.

I want to see us come together at the City, County and State levels to concentrate on our established economic industries. Finding ways to better help them succeed not only creates more opportunity for all of us but their success will attract new industry. One example is our agricultural industries such as farming, ranching and food processing.

We have many options available to us that will solicit businesses to relocate and foster new enterprises in our region. We need to look for opportunities that are available to help us attract new industry and businesses to our area. As State Representative I would be able to immediately begin coordinating with others in our area to build relationships that effectively make use of these options.

Our area is currently burdened with costs that should either be partnered with or entirely shouldered by either Federal or State Funds rather than our local municipalities. We have been tasked to carry much of the financial burden when the reality is the costs shouldn't be ours to bear. Relieving some of the financial burden would free up funds to invest more in our local economies.

Another area of concern is the persistant unwelcome ranking of highest unemployment in the state. The focus needs to be on building a highly employable, well trained work force. We need to build partnerships with the State, Federal entities, businesses, local municipalities, schools and consider potential new companies that will invest in training and educating the work force in our southwestern regions.

I am fully convinced that together we can turn around our current situation and see our region thrive. It will take strong leadership, hard work, dedication and perseverance. I know there are many more concerns, as well as solutions to the problems this area faces, I want to hear from you and work side by side with you to help our district reach the potential we all know it has. I am ready to be a strong voice for Southwestern New Mexico and fight for District 32.[6]
