John Scott Vowell was a presiding civil division judge for Circuit 10 in Jefferson County, Alabama.[1] He also served as a judge for the Alabama Court of the Judiciary, the court in charge of judicial discipline.[2] He was on the bench from January of 1995 until he reached the mandatory retirement age and retired in 2012.[3][4]

Education

Judge Vowell received his B.A. degree from Auburn University in 1959 and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia in 1961.[4][5]

Career

Judge Vowell was admitted to the practice of law on August 29, 1961.[6] From 1961 to 1987, he practiced law with Beddow, Embry, & Beddow. He then worked as a partner of Vowell & Meelheim until 1994.[4]

Vowell was a judge for the Alabama Court of the Judiciary, the court in charge of judicial discipline.[7]
