Jaceson Maughan is the Utah Commissioner of Labor. Maughan assumed office in 2016. Maughan's current term ends on January 1, 2029.
He was appointed to serve on an interim basis by Governor Gary Herbert (R) following the resignation of former officeholder Sherrie Hayashi.[1] Herbert appointed him to the position permanently after winning re-election in November 2016.[2]
Biography
At the time of his appointment, Maughan was serving as deputy commissioner and general counsel at the labor commission. He had also previously worked as assistant attorney general and as an attorney for the Department of Workforce Services.[3]

Maughan began serving as acting Utah Commissioner of Labor on June 27, 2016. He was appointed by Governor Gary Herbert (R) upon the resignation of Sherrie Hayashi, who departed in order to assume a position at the University of Utah. At the time of the appointment, Maughan worked as deputy commissioner and general counsel for the Labor Commission.[4] He was appointed to the position on a permanent basis by Herbert after he won re-election in November 2016.[2]
