The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Gregg Takayama was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Jaci Agustin was unopposed in the Republican primary. Takayama defeated Agustin in the general election.[6][7][8]
