Jack Hall is a 33 year veteran of law enforcement who recently served as a Chief of Police in Northeast Ohio and is currently commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff. Chief Hall has a vision to advance law enforcement practices in Lorain County and provide unparalleled services to all residents of the county.

Jack is a graduate of the Ohio Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Foundation program for law enforcement leadership and has been awarded the distinction of Certified Law Enforcement Executive. Additionally, Jack is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in journalism and psychology from Bowling Green State University. Jack is also a proud member of the 100th graduating class of Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst.

Jack considers himself a practitioner of the U.S. Constitution when leading law enforcement initiatives and providing service to the community. Jack Hall feels that the equal application of the law is a fundamental right of all citizens and all citizens need a voice in the protection of their liberty interests as afforded them under the federal and state constitutions.

Jack not only brings years of experience to the Office of Sheriff but works daily to construct programs that bridge the services of law enforcement to our most needing communities.
  • SAFETY: Jack believes protection of our families, friends, and colleagues from dangerous violent criminals needs to be made a priority in Lorain County. We have witnessed great tragedies as members of our communities and police officers have died at the hands of failed policies and misappropriated resources. These practices allowed violent criminals to be unaccountable to the law and their probation guidelines . Warrants of violent offenders go un-served - leaving dangerous criminal un-checked erodes at the foundation of our safe communities.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY: As the sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in the county, Jack Hall believes the sheriff must provide the community they serve with professional, highly trained and well-educated law enforcement personnel. This commitment begins with the development and advancement of deputies, corrections officers, and support staff within the sheriff’s office to create a premier law enforcement agency. The commitment continues through the inclusion of the dedicated men and women of Lorain County’s 17 municipal, regional, state, and village police agencies in training, task force, and community service initiatives.
  • TRUST: Jack's commitment to re-building trust between law enforcement and the community includes the inclusion of community members working directly with the sheriff’s administration, deputies, and local law enforcement to build a foundation of trust upon the goal of safer communities. A transparent Sheriff's Office is necessary to the foundation of a government by the people for the people - including uninhibited access to public records within Ohio Sunshine law guidelines. A newly-established Public Corruption Unit will hold our government and those who defraud our government to objective standards expected by all citizens though fair, unbiased and apolitical investigations.
An Ohio sheriff has a statutory responsibility to be the chief preserver of the peace in the county, operate an efficient and safe county jail and be a trusted ministerial officer of the Court of Common Pleas. These responsibilities are sustained by maintaining a strong commitment to the United State Constitution and ensuring the rights of all are upheld - without favor to political parties, individuals or organizations.

The sheriff must honor his oath of office free of bias and ensure the integrity of those deputies, corrections officers and staff who represent the people the office proudly serves.
Although I had a great childhood and look up to both of my amazing parents, I like to follow the example of my father. My father was an analytical and calming presence and was always admired by so many. His leadership style in his professional life encouraged growth and development in his employees and I have used that same model in my career leadership positions.
Any documentary or published literature which documents the founding of our great country and interpretation of creating our U.S. Constitution.
An elected official must understand they serve the people and their authority is derived from the people. Integrity, fairness and accountability to the people are the necessary principles which must be exhibited and followed by all public servants.

Specifically, a sheriff must use the founding principles of the Constitution to weigh equality and fairness when conducting investigations which incorporate the pursuit of the truth - actively seeking both inculpatory and exculpatory evidence.
The ability to identify talented individuals and allow their talents to flourish in team environments to service our communities is one of my best qualities.
As the chief law enforcement officer in Lorain County, the Sheriff preserves the public peace of 923 square miles which comprise the county. Lake Erie encompasses 432 square miles of the Sheriff’s jurisdiction which stretches to the Canadian border. Lorain County is the fourth largest county in Ohio by total area and the ninth most populous county in the state.

The Sheriff’s Office is the primary first-responder agency for 18 townships and has concurrent jurisdiction within nine cities, seven villages, the Lorain County Metropolitan Parks District and the Lorain County Metropolitan Housing Authority.

The Sheriff is the ministerial officer of the Lorain County Common Pleas Court and all of its divisions (General, Domestic Relations and Probate) – executing all warrants, writs, and other processes directed to the Sheriff through the proper and lawful authority of the courts.

The Sheriff is responsible for the security of the Lorain County Courthouses (the new courthouse – which houses the common pleas court rooms and the old courthouse – which houses the Lorain County Adult Probation Department). Additionally, the Sheriff maintains the safe transport of all prisoners to appear before the Court of Common Pleas – from the Lorain County Jail as well as state prisons in Ohio and other states.

Possibly the most important job of the Sheriff is the operation and management of the Lorain County Jail - a 422 bed facility which sees over 6,000 inmates a year.
Creating a top-notch law enforcement agency that focuses in community inclusion and sets the standard for all law enforcement agencies across the nation is the legacy I would like to leave.
I remember the release of the Americans during the Iran hostage crisis. I was 11 years old.
My first job was delivering the Chronicle Telegram newspaper and I had that job for over a year.
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee. It deals with injustice and the loss of innocence - as we still deal with these issues today.
Why we have to much hatred in society?
Eddie Murphy has always been one of my favorite comedians but I cannot cite his humor here.
Our campaign does not take endorsements. As a sheriff, I should not create relationships which would cause my office to become beholden to any individual, organization or entity which would expect favor.
Financial transparency and accountability would be the foundation of our Sheriff's Office and administration. The public has a right to know how we spend their money (in real time) and to question how those encumbrances on their monies are created. In fact, we plan on creating a financial transparency page within our published web content to the public and view how we spend and receive monies on their behalf in real time. Additionally, we welcome questions on how are budget is managed so we can provide explanations and welcome community input.

I believe the Sheriff is also an integral part of securing our elections in the county. Deputies must be versed in Title 35 of the Ohio Revised Code to ensure compliance with election laws and provide a fair electoral process to be accountable to the public.
