Jack O'Malley is a former justice of the Illinois Second District Appellate Court. He was elected to this position in November of 2000,[1] effective December 4th. He retired from the court on December 3, 2010.[2][3]
Education
Judge O'Malley was born in 1951 in Chicago, IL. He received his B.S. degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He then attended the Cornell University Law School and the University of Chicago Law School. While in college, he worked as a Chicago police officer.[1]
Career
Judge O'Malley began his legal career as an assistant corporation counsel in Chicago. He later worked as an associate and partner at the Chicago office of the law firm of Winston & Strawn. He was elected the Cook County State's Attorney in 1990 and 1992. In 1996, he joined G.E. Marquette Medical Systems as vice president and general counsel. He was then elected to the Appellate Court in 2000.[1]
