Jack M. Sabatino is a judge for Part A of the New Jersey Superior Court Appellate Division. He assumed office on March 1, 2006. His current term ends on February 21, 2028.

Biography

Sabatino received his B.A. from Yale University in 1979 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1982.[2]

Sabatino began his legal career as a law clerk to Henry Meanor of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and to Marie Garibaldi of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He then worked as a private practice lawyer until 1989. That year, he became the state's assistant attorney general in charge of civil litigation. In 2001, he was appointed to the New Jersey Superior Courts by Governor Whitman.[3]

The seven justices of the New Jersey Supreme Court are selected by gubernatorial appointment. The governor's nominee must be confirmed by the New Jersey state Senate.[4][5]

Justices serve an initial term of seven years after appointment. If renominated by the governor and confirmed for reappointment by the Senate, they may serve on the court until they reach the mandatory retirement age of 70.[4][5]

Qualifications

To be eligible to serve on the supreme court, a person must have been admitted to practice law in New Jersey for at least 10 years.[5]
